3B Cart

The 3B Cart transports baggage to and from the aircraft without the need for manual lifting. Replacing the traditional manually loaded baggage trolleys, 3B Cart improves airline safety, and reduces the risk of lost baggage by securely carrying bags and suitcases on automatically loaded compartments. These compartments integrate with loading and unloading at both aircraft and sorting hall that together with Crisplant makes the world’s first fully-automated aviation baggage system

Impact:
The 3B Cart has reduced the impact on operators lifting loads of as much as 10 tons of baggage per day in strenuous and difficult working conditions. This is coupled with benefits in airline baggage security, storage and reliability. Integrating with existing baggage sorting systems 3B Cart allows, for the first time ever, the secure monitoring of baggage from check-in to take-off. As well as alleviating harsh working conditions and improving passenger baggage services, 3B Cart offers direct economic benefits for airline, airport and ground handlers by totally rethinking the movement and storage of baggage in airports.

Context:
The 3B Cart was the result of rethinking the flow of passenger baggage in extensive collaboration with both end users and the different organisational partners, with the aim of eliminating heavy lifting, improving efficiency, and aligning baggage handling with the current demands and challenges of air travel. The AMU (Automatic Makeup Unit) and ADS (Automatic Discharge System) are manufactured by Crisplant who markets the entire system under the name Rampmate. The 3B Carts themselves are produced by CPH Design's sister company, 3B Aviation .
