Service Design

Service design is increasingly used to rethink services holistically and has become an important competition parameter for Danish companies on a national and an international level.

CPH Design has recently completed a successful project for the Roskilde local authority (Denmark) which adopted three essential principles for the approach:

Firstly service design centres upon the human being. It combines traditional design with sociological and anthropological methods for an in depth analysis of social relations, interactions and needs.

Secondly it is important in service design not to present solutions in advance. They can only be found in cooperation with the people who are part of the process.

Thirdly service design must lift its focus from the single problem which trigged the design process. An overall approach to the field surrounding the problem helps to create long-term and thoroughly considered solutions.
