Unique Danish Agreement on Access to Japanese Patent Database
The Danish Embassy in Tokyo and CPH Inventures A/S represented by Chairman Sam Kondo Steffensen have jointly created the Danish IPR Promotion Center (DIPC). DIPC is the result of a unique agreement with the Japanese patent authorities (INPIT), an organization under the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The agreement is a breakthrough for Danish companies and institutions wanting to master open innovation and knowledge sharing.
DIPC provides Danish companies full access to set up patents and patent applications in the advanced marketplace database of INPIT. At the same time the cooperation provides Danish companies, who whish to sell their licenses in the Japanese market, access to the extensive service network with specialists and marketing activities in Japan.
DIPC is primarily a service directed at Danish companies and knowledge institutions who have submitted a patent in Japan. In Denmark, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office serves as an active and contributing partner to DIPC.
As the first country to establish such an agreement with the Japanese patent authorities, Denmark achieves an international strategic advantage within the field of knowledge economy.
“The agreement is expected to provide Danish companies and knowledge institutions with a range of advantages, among others, to gain a unique international position” states the Chairman of CPH Inventures A/S, Sam K. Steffensen, who, together with the Danish Embassy in Tokyo, has negotiated the agreement with INPIT. “Furthermore, the agreement provides Danish companies with the possibility of direct exposure to the most innovative part of the Japanese industry.”
In addition, Danish innovative companies know the problem of protecting their immaterial rights in the global economy, and a registration of the patent in INPIT’s database through the service of DICP is major step towards protecting the patent.
