Building China: Airports

CPH Design is among a group of Danish companies in the newly established Danish-Chinese cooperation network, Building China Airports, which was officially launched by the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen. The initiative aims to seek market opportunities for these airport projects in China, where the Chinese government is planning the construction of 97 new airports by 2020 to a total investment of 62.5 billion USD.

The initiative creates a task force composed of the renowned Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University of China and the leading Danish companies Danfoss, Rockwool, engineering firm Moe & Brødsgaard, Smoke Solution, Fire Eater, CPH Design, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and landscape architect firm JAAA. The massive investment in Chinese infrastructure will not only mean that the Chinese people and other travelers in China will be able to get around faster and easier. The investment also represents an attractive option for companies with skills in airport design and construction at a time when companies in the industry are under pressure from economic decline in many markets. The group will be continuously assisted by the Danish Consulate General in Shanghai and, according to Commercial Officer of Construction & Facilities in China Franz Gammelgaard the prospects for cooperation are promising.

"We have assembled a team of companies with complementary skills. With our set-up combines our leading companies and individual specialist skills and we thus creates a strong team who are able to ensure order in some of China's major airport projects."
